A fire company’s "first due" area represents the geographic region where it holds primary responsibility for responding to emergencies. For Eureka Station 54 Volunteer Fire Department, this area encompasses a diverse range of communities and terrains, each presenting unique challenges and opportunities for service.

Our Fire Division is tasked with covering approximately 52 square miles, while our EMS Division serves an even larger area of about 72 square miles. Within these regions, we provide critical fire, rescue, and emergency medical services to the following municipalities:

🚒 Hopewell Township
🚒 East Hopewell Township
🚑 Parts of North Hopewell Township (EMS services only)

This vast service area is composed of a variety of property types, including agricultural land, rural residential neighborhoods, light industrial complexes, and commercial establishments. One notable area is Stonebridge, a large, mixed-use development that highlights the diversity of our jurisdiction.

Stonebridge features:
Several large chain restaurants.
A three-story hotel accommodating numerous visitors.
Retail outlets serving the local and surrounding communities.
Light industrial facilities that support regional economic activity.

Despite its development, hydrant coverage across our first due area is extremely limited, with less than 4% of the area having access to hydrants. This poses significant challenges for fire suppression operations, requiring our team to rely heavily on tanker trucks and water shuttle operations to ensure sufficient water supply during incidents.
